N.S. government spending $150K on second-annual Stampede event

The provincial government is spending $150,000 on the second-annual Nova Scotia Stampede this fall.

The Stampede, which held its first event in Bible Hill last September, is a rodeo that features bull riding, barrel racing and saddle bronc. It created $2.2 million in net economic activity for the province, according to a news release from the government.

Along with the $150,000 for this year’s event, the Nova Scotia government is spending $550,000 on portable bleachers for the exhibition grounds in Bible Hill.

“The strong attendance and excitement at the 2024 Nova Scotia Stampede, from both locals and visitors from far and wide, show our unique ability to blend culture, sports, heritage and hospitality,” said Matt Moore, CEO of Central Nova Scotia Sports and Entertainment, in the release. “This event not only boosts central Nova Scotia but also the entire province.”

The 2025 Stampede will be held from Sept. 18 to 21.
