Price of diesel to be adjusted in N.S. overnight

The price of diesel will change overnight in Nova Scotia in an unscheduled adjustment.

The Nova Scotia Energy Board says the change will be effective at 12:01 a.m. Wednesday and is “necessary due to significant shifts in the market price.”

The board can invoke an interrupter to respond to sudden significant spikes in petroleum product prices, thereby interrupting the regularly scheduled weekly setting of prices.

“The benchmark price of diesel oil is based on an average of the daily market price for refined diesel oil on the New York Mercantile Exchange (NYMEX), converted into Canadian dollars,” reads a news release from the Nova Scotia Energy Board.

“The Energy Board monitors the markets for gasoline and diesel oil daily and, should conditions warrant, may set a new price at any time.”

The price of gasoline will not be affected by the adjustment.
