Cash reward offered for information about fatal Dartmouth shooting

The fatal shooting of a man in Dartmouth, N.S., more than a year ago has been added to a provincial rewards program for unsolved crimes.

Up to $150,000 is being offered for information related to the homicide of 30-year-old Isaac Downey.

Halifax Regional Police responded to a report of gunshots near Lahey Road and Clarence Street around 3 a.m. on Jan. 19, 2025.

Officers found Downey and a woman with gunshot wounds at the scene.

They were both taken to hospital, where Downey later died.

The woman’s injuries were not believed to be life-threatening.

Downey’s death was ruled a homicide the next day.

Investigators believe people may have information about the shooting that they have not shared with police.

“You may have the missing piece that investigators need,” said Attorney General and Justice Minister Scott Armstrong.

“I urge anyone with details about what happened to Mr. Downey to contact the rewards program and help bring justice and closure for his family.”

Officials say anyone with information on the case should call the Rewards for Major Unsolved Crimes Program at 1-888-710-9090.

People who come forward with information have to give their name and contact information and may be called to testify in court.

Those who would rather stay anonymous can call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).

There are now 123 active cases in the Rewards for Major Unsolved Crimes Program, including Downey’s.
