Man wanted by Truro, N.S., police in relation to apartment rental scam investigation

Truro, N.S., police have obtained a warrant for the arrest of a man in relation to an apartment rental scam investigation.

Between Jan. 29 and Feb. 10, police received several complaints about a rental scam involving a property on Minerva Drive in Truro.

Truro police say they spoke with at least eight victims who reported a male advertised an apartment for rent on the street.

Police say most of them signed fraudulent leases and transferred funds to the man, only to find out the unit was not legitimately available for rent and the suspect had vacated the area and could not be contacted anymore.

According to a Facebook post from the Truro Police Service, Ronald Kaziuk has been charged with eight counts of fraud under $5,000. Officers believe he has fled Nova Scotia.

They are asking anyone with information about his whereabouts to contact Truro police at 902-895-5351 or Nova Scotia Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
