Man charged with attempted murder for alleged stabbing in Dartmouth, N.S.

Police in Halifax have charged a man with attempted murder following a stabbing on the weekend in Dartmouth, N.S.

A 25-year-old man is facing an attempted murder charge in connection to an alleged stabbing in Dartmouth, N.S., over the weekend.

Officers responded to the reported stabbing in the 60-block of Primrose Street around 12:20 a.m. Sunday, according to a news release from Halifax Regional Police. They learned two men who were known to each other got into an altercation and one of the men allegedly stabbed the other.

Police arrested the suspect, Jayden Daniel Smith, at the scene. The victim went to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Police believe Smith was also involved in a break and enter at an NSLC earlier that evening.

Smith was scheduled to appear in court on Monday to face charges of:

• attempted murder
• break and enter
• possession of stolen goods under $5,000
• mischief
• two counts of breach of probation
