A Yarmouth, N.S., man is facing charges after two “suspicious fires” at a residential building in the town. Emergency crews responded to a report of a fire on Cliff Street around 6:40 a.m. Tuesday. When officers with the Nova Scotia RCMP arrived, they learned a small fire in the front of the building had been extinguished. A second fire was reported at the back of the same building less than an hour later at 7:25 a.m. Police say the second fire led to damage to the building which has several apartments in it. “Based on evidence gathered on scene, responding firefighters notified police that they believed the fire was intentionally set,” read a Thursday news release from Nova Scotia RCMP. No one was injured in either fire. Police say they were able to identify a person of interest based of surveillance video in the area. The person was located by officers and was arrested. Police noted the man was found to be in possession of a lighter and had a strong odour of gasoline. Nathan LeBlanc, 30, has been charged with: LeBlanc remains in custody pending a court appearance Thursday. The investigation is ongoing.
