The Angus L. Macdonald Bridge that crosses the Halifax Harbour will be closed again this weekend.
The bridge will be closed to vehicles from 7 p.m. Friday until 5:30 a.m. Monday.
Halifax Harbour Bridges (HHB) says the closure will allow for the completion of toll plaza removal work.
The Macdonald was closed last weekend so crews could begin work dismantling the toll booths and concrete barriers.
“The plan is to finish Macdonald first and then turn our attention to MacKay. I see that happening over a period of weeks. Once we finish that, it will be two lanes across without impediment,” HHB CEO Tony Wright told CTV Atlantic on Monday.
The commissions says motorists should anticipate delays this weekend, choose alternate routes, take public transit if possible and allow for extra travel time.
“Cyclists and pedestrians will share a single lane and may also experience delays. Please use caution and pay attention to any signage or temporary traffic instructions in the area,” reads a Thursday news release from HHB.
Motorists experienced their first toll-free crossings of both the Macdonald and A. Murray MacKay bridges on Monday morning, two weeks earlier than originally planned.

The province says work to remove the MacKay Bridge toll plaza will start on Friday, March 28.
Premier Tim Houston promised to eliminate the tolls during last fall’s election campaign in an effort to ease traffic congestion.
