Halifax police arrest two people after seizing stolen vehicle in Bayers Road area

Two people are facing multiple theft charges after Halifax police arrested them in a reportedly stolen vehicle on Saturday morning.

Officers spotted the vehicle in the Bayers Road area around 10 a.m. and stopped it. They arrested the two people in the vehicle who were wanted on warrants, according to a news release.

Matthew David Taillon, 39, was charged with:

• nine counts of possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000
• nine counts of breach of probation
• seven counts of theft under $5,000
• six counts of fraud under $5,000

Jesse Laurence Raymond Phillips, 36, was charged with:

• three counts of possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000
• three counts of theft under $5,000
• impaired operation of a motor vehicle (drugs)
• possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000
• seven counts of breach of probation order

Both accused were scheduled to appear in Halifax provincial court on Tuesday.
