Police say an 18-year-old woman from Waterville, N.B., has died after she was hit by her own vehicle in the community Tuesday morning.

Oromocto RCMP responded to a report of a two-vehicle collision involving a pedestrian on Waterville Road just after 8 a.m.

Police believe the crash happened when one vehicle, which was travelling westbound, hit a second vehicle that was stopped and facing the same direction.

The driver of the second vehicle, an 18-year-old woman, was outside of her vehicle at the time of the crash.

Police say the collision caused her vehicle to hit her.

The woman died at the scene from her injuries.

The driver of the first vehicle was not injured.

The Oromocto Fire Department, Ambulance New Brunswick, and a member of the New Brunswick Coroner’s Office also attended the scene.

A New Brunswick RCMP Traffic Reconstructionist is also assisting with the investigation, which is ongoing.

Police do not believe criminality was a factor in the cause of the crash.

An autopsy will be done to determine the woman’s exact cause of death.
