Two people arrested as part of drug-trafficking investigation in Saint John

The Saint John Police Force arrested a man and a woman as part of a drug-trafficking investigation on Wednesday.

Police say they arrested a 56-year-old man and a 37-year-old woman from a vehicle around 9:41 p.m. Officers then seized:

• a pellet gun
• 15 grams of a substance believed to be cocaine
• an aerosol irritant
• digital scales
• a cellphone
• $450 in Canadian currency

Police say the estimated street value of the seized drugs is $1,500.

The unnamed man was charged with possession for the purpose of trafficking cocaine, possession of the proceeds of crime under $5,000 and breach of a court order. He is scheduled to appear in court for a bail hearing on Monday.

The unnamed woman was charged with possession for the purpose of trafficking cocaine. She was released from custody and is scheduled to appear in court on July 8.
