Saint John firefighters to begin ice rescue exercises this week

The Saint John Fire Department will begin ice rescue exercises inside Rockwood Park this week.

The training will take place at the park’s aquatic driving range between Jan. 26 and Feb. 12.

The fire department says the training area will be clearly marked.

As part of the rescue exercises, open water will be created and maintained during the training period.

The fire department is asking people to avoid the area.
