An Ontario man has been charged following a drug trafficking investigation in Moncton, N.B.
RCMP said officers conducted a search warrant at a residence on Ash Street on Jan. 23 as part of an ongoing investigation. During the search, police allegedly seized an undisclosed quantity of what is believed to be cocaine, crystal methamphetamine, fentanyl and oxycodone.
Police say they also seized a loaded handgun, prohibited weapon, ammunition, drug trafficking paraphernalia, and what appears to be thousands of dollars in cash.
A 22-year-old man and 18-year-old woman were arrested at the scene. The woman was later released.
On Jan. 28, William Botelho from York, Ont., was charged with:
-possession for the purpose of trafficking cocaine
-possession for the purpose of trafficking crystal methamphetamine
-possession for the purpose of trafficking fentanyl
-possession for the purpose of trafficking oxycodone
-possession of a restricted firearm with ammunition without a licence or registration
-careless storage of a firearm
Botelho is scheduled to appear in court for a bail hearing on Friday.
Police said the investigation is ongoing.
