The New Brunswick government has announced it is investing $363,000 to support three community infrastructure projects in Miramichi. According to a news release from the province, funding is expected to go towards a new splash pad at the old Ian Baillie Primary School site, a basketball and tennis court upgrade, as well as a new pickleball court at Dr. Losier Middle School, and an exterior facelift at the Kin Centre. “Investing in community infrastructure helps to create places where people can come together, stay active and enjoy their communities,” said Environment and Climate Change Minister Gilles LePage, who is also minister responsible for the Regional Development Corporation. “The new splash pad will give families and residents another place to enjoy the outdoors, while investments at Dr. Losier Middle School and the Beaverbrook Kin Centre will strengthen recreation and meeting opportunities.” The splash pad project received $250,000, while $50,000 went to Dr. Losier Middle. The Miramichi Kinsmen Club was awarded $63,000. “This is great news for families across Miramichi,” said Mayor Veronique Arsenault. “This is an opportunity for generations to continue to make wonderful memories together and the perfect spot to cool off during those hot summer days.” For more New Brunswick news, visit our dedicated provincial page.
