Man, woman arrested following police operation in Moncton

A man and a woman have been arrested following a police operation near Magnetic Hill in Moncton, N.B.

The New Brunswick RCMP responded to Mountain Road near the intersection of Glen Eagles Drive in connection with an ongoing investigation on Friday.

A 45-year-old man from Haute-Aboujagane, N.B., and a 41-year-old woman from Moncton were arrested at the scene.

The man was remanded into custody and is scheduled to appear in Moncton provincial court on Wednesday.

The woman was later released and is scheduled to appear in court at a later date.

“We understand that events like this can be concerning for members of the public,” said Ricky LeBlond in a news release from the RCMP.

“We take all necessary precautions when conducting police operations. There was no risk to the public at the time of the arrests, public safety remains our top priority.”

Police say their investigation is ongoing.
