Police operation on Wright Street in Saint John ends

A 12-hour standoff ended in Saint John, N.B., on Friday.

A police operation on Wright Street in Saint John, N.B., has ended.

The Saint John Police Force first responded to a home on the street at 11:45 p.m. Thursday.

Police say they found a man at the scene who later barricaded himself inside with a firearm.

On Friday morning, police asked people to avoid the area and a section of the street was closed.

People living on Wright Street were also asked to stay inside their homes as tactical, K9 teams and negotiators responded to the scene.

The Saint John Police Force said the situation had concluded in a post on X just before 1 p.m.

Police say they will release more information later.
