HotSpot: City of Moncton expanding paid parking system

The City of Moncton is expanding its online paid parking system.

HotSpot, an online system that is already in use at various city-owned lots, will be implemented throughout the city in a phased approach.

The parking gates at the Moncton Place parking lot and the Alma Street parking garage will be removed as part of the first phase of the transition.

Beginning next week, the city says visitors and monthly pass holders at the Moncton Place parking lot and parking garage will pay using HotSpot by doing the following steps:

• scan a QR code or enter the zone number on the nearest sign at your parking location in the app or online
• add your license plate
• add the length of time of your stay
• follow steps to pay

The city says monthly pass holders have already provided their license plates to register their permit, so they won’t need to scan.

“This expansion of HotSpot is about making parking more convenient and flexible for our residents and visitors”, says Conrad Landry, director of Community Safety. “Through HotSpot, users can manage their parking much easier by monitoring how much time they have left in their parking spot directly on their phone and adding time when needed.”

The next phase, which will be the removal of all on-street parking meters, is expected in 2026.
