New Brunswick RCMP says a 45-year-old man has been arrested after they recovered a stolen truck and snowmobile, and seized a significant number of contraband cigarettes following a single-vehicle crash in Saint-Basile, N.B.
Officers responded to a report of single-vehicle crash on Highway 2, in Saint-Basile on Monday around 5:15 p.m., according to a news release from RCMP.
The driver and sole occupant of the pickup truck, a man from North York, Ont., sustained what police say are minor injuries, and was transported to hospital.
According to the release, the pickup truck involved in the crash, along with the snowmobile it was hauling, were both reported as stolen.
The driver did not have a valid driver’s licence.
Police say they discovered a significant number of contraband cigarettes in the truck.
The truck and the snowmobile were towed to a secure location and the contraband cigarettes were seized.
Connor Andrew Kilp was later arrested and remanded into custody. He appeared in Edmundston provincial court on Tuesday and was charged with two counts of possession of stolen property.
He will reappear in Edmundston provincial court on Thursday for a bail hearing.
The investigation is ongoing.
