Science writer Chris Rutkowski has been researching UFOs since the 1970s and his latest book explores sightings across Canada. “It’s important we get the information out to the public because we need to know what’s going on,” he told CTV News Atlantic’s Todd Battis. “Every year there are 1,000 reports in Canada. It’s worthwhile to take a scientific look at it.” “Canada’s UFO Secrets: Disclosing Government Files on What is Happening in our Skies” traces the Canadian government’s policy on UFO sightings. Rutkowski said he regularly receives reports from Canadians claiming to see something inexplicable in the skies. He notes there are more sightings per capita in Atlantic Canada than elsewhere in the country. “Ten per cent of all Canadians believe they have seen a UFO,” he said. “It’s a topic that’s very interesting to most people.”
