Man, 73, arrested for impaired driving following fatal crash in Clinton, P.E.I.

Man arrested after fatal PEI crash A 73-year-old man was arrested following a vehicle crash that claimed the life of a 70-year-old woman in P.E.I. on Wednesday.

Prince District RCMP says it arrested a 73-year-old Stanley Bridge, P.E.I., man following a single-vehicle crash that left one woman dead on Wednesday.

Emergency services responded to the collision on Route 6 in Clinton around 4:30 p.m., according to a news release from RCMP.

Police say the crash occurred when an SUV failed to navigate a turn and went off the road into the ditch.

A 70-year-old woman who was a passenger was pronounced deceased and a 73-year-old man was arrested for impaired driving, says the release.

The driver remains in hospital with what police say are serious injuries.

The New London Fire Department and Island EMS also assisted at the scene.

The investigation is ongoing.
