A Canadian Armed Forces member faces a raft of charges stemming from recording devices found at his U.S. residence, including sexual assault, voyeurism and possession of child pornography.
Cpl. Colin McGregor was working as a support clerk with Canadian Defence Liaison Staff in Washington, D.C. in January when the devices were found at his home, according to the Department of National Defence.
Among the recordings found on the devices was video of a sexual assault against a member of CFB Esquimalt in 2011, the department said.
McGregor, who is now based at 5th Canadian Division Support Base in Gagetown, N.B., faces charges of sexual assault, voyeurism, interception, breaking and entering, possession of property obtained by crime, theft, transmission of an intimate image, possession of a device for surreptitious interception and possession of child pornography.
The charges will be handled in the military justice system, with offences punishable under the National Defence Act, according to department.
Officials are asking anyone who has information that could help the investigation to contact Canadian Forces National Investigation Services at 1-888-812-3647.
