Devika Desai

Devika Desai joined the CTV News national digital team as a writer and producer in June 2026. She is currently based in Toronto, but has previously worked in newsrooms across Ontario and Alberta, including the National Post and the Calgary Herald. She has reported on breaking news, public policy, health, and human interest stories, with experience covering both local communities and national issues. She has a particular interest in health and human interest reporting. Devika holds a master’s degree in journalism from Toronto Metropolitan University and a bachelor’s degree in English and economics from the University of Toronto — a combination shaped by her love of literature and her parents’ early hopes that she would pursue a career in banking. That plan was quickly abandoned due to her preference of chasing stories over interest rates. She speaks fluent English and elementary Spanish and Hindi.
