Police are searching for a man accused of attacking and then sexually assaulting a woman in a Victoria park Thursday night.

The woman was walking through Stadacona Park in the 1500-block of Pandora Avenue around 10 p.m. when a man she didn't know approached her.

Police say the man then attacked and sexually assaulted the woman.

She fought back and was eventually able to break free from the attacker, then ran to safety and called police.

Investigators say the woman wasn't physically injured in the assault and are crediting her for taking decisive action to escape.

Police say they're looking for a white man in his mid-30s between 5'10" and 6'0" tall, last seen wearing dark clothing.

Anyone with information is asked to call Victoria police at 250-995-7654 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
