VICTORIA - A woman was rushed to hospital with life threatening injuries after she cycled into a hole at the Johnson Street Bridge, which is currently under construction.

It happened shortly before 10 a.m. Tuesday. 

A witness tells CTV News the woman cycled into the nearly-four foot deep hole when she was thrown forward, landing head first onto the pavement and was knocked unconscious.

Police have the area blocked off.  Crash analysts have been called in to investigate. 

At this time officers do not believe there were any vehicles involved.
