A woman was taken to hospital early Wednesday morning after an SUV slammed into a hydro pole in Colwood.

It happened just after 5 a.m. at the intersection of Sooke Road and Kelly Road.

Witnesses told police the vehicle had failed to make a turn and plowed into a power pole, shearing it off.

The red Ford Escape then hit the fence of a nearby daycare.

One woman, who police say is in her 20s, was at the scene when police arrived.

She suffered non-life threatening injuries, police say.

Officials are now trying to determine how many people were in the vehicle and who was driving.

BC Hydro was called in to deal with the broken power pole.

West Shore RCMP ask that anyone who saw what happened to give them a call.
