Cold, dry conditions continue on Vancouver Island today. Temperatures will peak at -2°C in Port Alberni and 3°C in Tofino, with most other communities hovering at 0°C to 1°C this afternoon.

Clouds increase this afternoon as a low approaches from the north. With cold conditions in place over Vancouver Island, precipitation will fall as snow in many communities late today through overnight hours, especially at higher elevations and through inland communities.

A rain-snow mix is expected for coastal areas overnight through Friday.

Timing of the precipitation and the type of precipitation in the next 24 hours is dependent on elevation, proximity to the water and temperature. Be prepared for mixed wintry precipitation through the weekend.
