A Port Hardy woman captured an adorable video of three black bears playing in her backyard, but the underlying message is much more serious.

The video of a mother bear wrestling with her cubs was posted on Facebook a few days ago.

The woman writes while the bears are cute, they are becoming habituated to garbage in the area and will most likely have to be killed.

“It's easy for us to state that they should all be tranquilized and relocated... the reality of relocation is just not that simple...nor is it likely to happen now,” the post reads.

Conservation officers tell CTV News animals habituated to humans or conditioned to non-natural food sources are not good candidates for relocation.

They’ve seen higher than normal levels of human-bear conflicts this year.

Officials are reminding people not to leave food out and to properly secure garbage.
