A Victoria man wanted on a Canada-wide warrant for a parole revocation was arrested following an hours long standoff on Wednesday.

VicPD was called to an apartment building in the 1300-block of Hillside Avenue just before 3 p.m.

Investigators arrived at a suite as part of an investigation aimed at finding two people wanted on arrest warrants.

Police say they identified who they believed to be a Victoria man wanted on a country-wide warrant and he refused to come to the door.

Out of an abundance of caution the Greater Victoria Emergency Response Team was called in to assist.

Witnesses reported hearing the sound of glass smashing coming from inside the apartment.

The Victoria man eventually gave himself up to officers and was taken into custody just after 11 p.m., officials say.

Officers searched the suite and discovered that the other person wasn’t inside. The search for that individual is ongoing.

No one was injured in the incident.
