Two people were arrested and a man is in hospital following an apparent shooting in the Gorge Waterway.

VicPD says police officers and the BC Ambulance Service responded after a man reported being shot while boarding a boat early Friday morning.

According to police, officers found a man who had been injured after arriving at one of the docks off Jutland Road. He was taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

“The injuries appear to be the result of a shooting,” said Bowen-Michael Osoko, communications coordinator with Victoria police.

The Greater Victoria Emergency Response team also attended the scene.

The Gorge Trestle was closed in an effort to keep the surrounding community safe.

Two people were taken into custody at 6 a.m. Friday.

Police say at this point it looks like all the individuals who were involved knew each other and criminal charges will likely follow.

The boats involved in the incident have been secured and police continue to investigate.

VicPD says there is no risk to the general public.
