A boil water notice has again been issued in the Comox Valley after intense rainfall caused high turbidity in the region’s watershed.

The Comox Valley Regional District and Island Health issued the notice, effective immediately as of Friday afternoon.

Wet weather in the area led to the high turbidity levels in Perseverance Creek, which feeds Comox Lake

Officials say turbidity can affect chlorination used to disinfect drinking water for the 45,000 users of the Comox Valley water system.

Everyone who uses the system is asked to boil drinking water for one minute at a rolling boil until further notice.

The notice affects people in Courtenay, Comox, Arden, Marsden/Camco, Greaves Cresent and England Road, the CVRD says.

For updated information on the boil water notice, visit the CVRD website or Island Health website.

Residents can also sign up for text or voicemail notifications on the CVRD website.

Further south, the town of Lake Cowichan is also under an Island Health boil water advisory, which went into effect Thursday.
