An island arts company is appealing to the public for blankets after staff say there were robbed at Fisherman’s Wharf sometime overnight Friday.

Vancouver Island Shakespeare Arts says a number of items were taken from its tents, including stage lights, tent walls, extension cords, a car battery and blankets.

According to the company, the lights have been replaced and the production will use old tent walls for now, but it still needs blankets for audience members.

The show has 50 to 60 seats and needs a blanket for every two seats. Two blankets have been donated so far.

The executive director says the incident has been reported to Victoria police and staff will be contacting local businesses in the areas for security footage.

“We’re not going to let this get us down” Steve Duck told CTV News. “The show goes on.”

Once the company’s 2016 season wraps up, the blankets will be donated to one of Victoria’s shelters.

Anyone who is interested in helping out can bring the blankets to Fisherman’s Wharf Tuesday to Saturday anytime between 6 p.m. and 9:30 p.m. or they can contact Steve Duck at 250-891-6599  to arrange a pick-up time.
