The stubborn snake holed up in a Victoria drain pipe for eight days is finally out.

The City of Victoria said utility crews were able to remove the elusive five-foot corn snake from the pipe under Quadra and Mason streets around 8 p.m. Thursday.

They haven’t released details of exactly how the snake was lured out and it has since been handed over to animal control.

The serpent was first discovered in the drain pipe last Wednesday.

On Thursday night, the city said it might actually be a boa constrictor – but in a news conference Friday, confirmed it was a corn snake as believed all along.

Eight days of “snake-watch” saw crews try to coax the creature out of its hiding spot with bait.

At one point, crews had to wait for the snake to moult – and pulled several feet of snake skin from the drain earlier this week.
