Comox Valley RCMP are investigating a Wednesday shooting that sent one man to hospital and say it appears to be targeted.

Police responded to a report of a shooting in the 4600-block of Island Highway in Courtenay just before 1 a.m.

The man was taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Investigators say it doesn’t appear to have been a random act and are currently trying to track down the person or people responsible.

The investigation is in the early stages and police are now looking to speak with anyone who saw suspicious activity in the area early Wednesday morning.
