The City of Victoria is warning motorists to expect delays as major upgrades get underway in one of the city’s busiest intersections.

The upgrades include storm drain repairs, sidewalk improvements and repaving at the intersection of Blanshard Street and Hillside Avenue starting on Tues., Aug. 2, according to the city.

Work will close lanes and disrupt traffic for up to seven weeks, even though the city says it will be scheduled to minimize impacts to rush hour traffic in the morning and afternoons.

On the final day of paving, which will be a Sunday in September, the intersection will be closed for up to 24 hours.

Pedestrians and cyclists will be accommodated during construction, the city said.
