RCMP say a fire has been deliberately set at a Campbell River home for the third time in a year.

The blaze was sparked early Monday morning and police say people living in the home were woken by a large bang, followed by the sound of smoke alarms.

One of the residents discovered the fire by a door of the home and was able to douse it with a hose, but investigators say it was clearly a targeted arson.

RCMP say the people in the house moved in recently and are not the targets of the violence - and investigators hope to speak to anyone with information about the fire.
