The city is asking motorists to plan ahead as it completes final paving work that will shut down the Johnson Street Bridge for most of the day Sunday.

The bridge and road approaches between Harbour Road and Wharf Street will be closed from about 5:30 a.m. to 11 p.m.

Pedestrian and cyclist connections between downtown and Vic West will be unaffected, the city says.

Advance warning signs have been posted up in the area advising drivers of traffic pattern changes.

Drivers are advised to consider using alternate routes like the Bay Street Bridge to avoid delays.

The city has said paving work is being done in the summer months to take advantage of favourable weather conditions.
