Mounties in Parksville are looking to identify and speak with a man in connection with a suspicious bakery fire last month.

French Creek Bakery, just off Highway 19A in the mid-island town, went up in flames on April 28.

Four employees were inside at the time and all escaped unharmed.

The fire followed another blaze at a bakery just down the road the day before.

RCMP say just before the fire was reported witnesses saw a man smoking a cigarette near the back of the bakery.

The person of interest is described as a Caucasian man, between 25 and 30 years old with short dark hair. He was wearing a white shirt and blue jeans the day of the fire.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Oceanside RCMP at 250-248-6111 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
