Saanich police have issued a warning to a bus driver who was caught reading an ebook while on the job earlier this month.

According to passenger Brent D’Argis, the bus was stopped at a red light on Saanich Road near Uptown Mall when he noticed a Kobo e-reader perched up beside the steering wheel.

The incident happened on Oct. 13.

BC Transit launched an investigation the following day.

On Tuesday, Saanich police said after looking at all of the available evidence and interviewing the driver and the complaintant, no charges were warranted.

“We believe after looking at the totality of the circumstances, not all details were reported to the media, this was the best course of action and satisfies public interest,” A/Sgt. Jereme Leslie said.
