A 58-year-old motorcyclist has died from his injuries after colliding with a truck in Saanich Monday afternoon.

Fire crews, police and paramedics were called to Boleskine Road near Whittier Avenue around 12:30 p.m. after multiple 911 callers reported a crash between a motorcycle and truck.

He was rushed to hospital in serious condition and a blue motorcycle could be seen on its side in the intersection of Boleskine Road at Whittier Avenue.

Police confirmed just after 3:30 p.m. that the man had succumbed to his injuries in hospital.

Boleskine Road was shut down in both directions for several hours as a result of the crash and police asked motorists to use an alternate route.

Police said they expected the route would remain closed well into the evening as crash analysts processed the scene.

There's no word on the condition of the truck driver involved in the collision. Police are now asking anyone with information about the incident to call them at 250-475-4321 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
