Authorities say a snake found in Victoria's Beacon Hill Park will go up for adoption if no one claims it.
The nearly metre-long corn snake was found by park users Saturday who called it in to Animal Control and kept track of it until wildlife officers arrived.
They captured the snake and will keep it for 96 hours as they try to track down a possible owner.
"Animal control's posted it on their website. Owners can come forward and claim their snake," said city bylaw manager Nancy Johnston. "After that, it could go up for adoption and get it to a good home."
So far there's no indication of how the snake got into the park or where the owner is.
Johnston said it is not the same infamous corn snake that holed up in a Victoria drain pipe for eight days last year.
