Another fall storm expected to hit parts of the South Coast this weekend will bring heavy rain and strong winds to Greater Victoria, Environment Canada says.

Rain will start over Vancouver Island overnight on Friday and will intensify Saturday afternoon and evening. Certain areas could see between 50 and 70 millimetres of rain.

The storm will also bring strong winds to portions of the inner South Coast Saturday morning. The wind activity will start to pick up through Puget Sound and Haro Strait and then through Georgia Strait.

Areas near Haro Strait as well as the Gulf Islands can expect southeasterly winds of 70 to 90 km/hr.

Environment Canada says the strong wind gusts may toss loose objects and cause tree branches to break. Flooding in low-lying areas is also possible.

Conditions are forecast to improve around midnight on Saturday across the South Coast.
