Workers for a B.C. bus company could soon be going on strike in a bid to get severance packages.

Unifor members working at Pacific Coach Lines have voted 79 per cent in favour of taking job action after a recent announcement that the company's long-term contract with BC Ferries would not be renewed, leading to job cuts.

The union says about 70 per cent of the company's workforce will be laid off, and 20-year veterans are being told that they won't receive any severance.

The union represents 77 Pacific Coach Lines workers, including drivers, mechanics, service staff and ticket agents.
