A 31-year-old man is facing several charges after his truck sped around a street corner and slammed into parked cars in a Victoria neighbourhood.

The crash happened at Wilson Street and Tyee Road around 6:40 p.m. on Saturday.

Witnesses told officers a truck turning onto Wilson Street was going so fast that at one point it was on two wheels.

Victoria police say the driver fled the scene, but was later arrested.

“It looks like there was a passenger in the vehicle that sustained minor injuries […] other than that, no one seems to have been hurt,” said Const. Ralph Weber.

VicPD is recommending eight charges, including impaired driving and two counts of possession for the purpose of trafficking.

The driver was scheduled to appear for a tele-bail hearing on Sunday.

The investigation is ongoing.
