Mounties are searching for anyone who may have witnessed a possible abduction attempt of a 10-year-old girl in Langford last week.

The elementary school student was walking on Rainville Road at around 2:50 p.m. Nov. 18 when a man driving a white panel van approached her and asked her to get in, according to police.

The girl ran away and told her family, who notified police.

The man is described as a 30-year-old white man with black, greasy hair and a goatee.

He was reportedly wearing a navy blue shirt, grey and black skateboard shoes with white soles and a pair of grey jeans.

His vehicle is described as an older-model white panel van with no side or rear windows, dirty with scratches on one side and garbage in the passenger side wheel well.

Police say no similar cases have been reported.

Anyone who saw the vehicle or the man is asked to call West Shore RCMP at 250-474-2264 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
