Mounties in Port Hardy are investigating a single-vehicle crash that killed a man on Highway 19 Thursday morning.

The man was driving on Highway 19, about one kilometre south of Fort Rupert Road, just before 6 a.m. when it happened.

Paramedics rushed the man to Port Hardy Hospital for treatment, but he succumbed to his injuries.

Police say speed and alcohol do not appear to be factors in the crash.

An investigation into what caused the crash is ongoing.
