Charges are being recommended against a Victoria man after he caused several motor vehicle collisions in the James Bay neighbourhood on Thursday.

Police received a report of a hit-and-run involving an empty parked vehicle just after 7:30 p.m. The driver fled in a brown Audi A6 before officers arrived.

VicPD says they received multiple calls from witnesses shortly after about the same vehicle driving erratically and causing another crash in the 1300-block of Quadra Street.

According to officials, the driver returned to the scene of the first crash and swerved towards officers who were there investigating. Police say luckily no one was injured.

Officers were able to track down the person a few blocks away.

Investigators are recommending several charges, including dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, failure to stop at the scene of an accident and impaired operation of a motor vehicle.

Police are looking to speak with a jogger who was running near James Bay Community School during the time of the first collision.

VicPD believes there could be more hit-and-runs related to this incident that have yet to be reported.
