RCMP in Campbell River are investigating a possible attempted child luring after a suspicious incident near an elementary school.

It happened Friday morning around 8:15 a.m. near Martin Road in the Willow Point area.

A young boy was walking to school when he was approached by an adult male who said "come with me," prompting him to flee the area.

The man is described as having dark-skin, standing about 5'8", in his mid-20s with a flat-brimmed ball cap and a dark hooded sweatshirt.

A dark-coloured van or SUV was also observed in the area but no make, model or licence plate was recorded.

Police are using the incident to remind parents to go over safety procedures with their children regarding strangers.
