No damage is expected after a 4.0 magnitude earthquake struck off the coast of Powell River Saturday morning.

According to Earthquakes Canada, the quake hit at 6:40 a.m. and was felt in Port Alberni, Cumberland, Powell River, metro Vancouver and Victoria.

Natural Resources Canada said the earthquake happened about 140 kilometres north of Powell River.

It struck at a depth of 10 kilometres.

There are no reports of damage and seismologists said none would be expected.
