UPDATE: The missing 79-year-old woman has been found and is safe, according to Saanich police.

Original story: Police are urgently searching for a 79-year-old woman who suffers from dementia after she went missing from her Saanich home.

Cynthia Marley was last seen around 1 p.m. Tuesday when she left her home in the 4000-block of Magdelin Street, according to police.

Her husband told investigators she left in the family vehicle, despite not having driven for years, and it's unclear where she'd be headed.

Police are asking the public to keep an eye out for the vehicle, described as a brown 2003 Mazda MPV with a B.C. licence plate TCX 012.

Marley is described as white with short, silver hair and glasses. She stands about 5'6" tall and weighs 135 pounds and was last seen wearing a blue top, black pants, blue slip on shoes and was carrying a black purse.

Anyone who sees her is asked to call Saanich police at 250-475-4321.
