Mounties have arrested a 40-year-old man accused in a chaotic crime spree that took place in Duncan, resulting in charges including assault, forcible entry and mischief.

Police say the man kicked off his spree at around 6 p.m. Tuesday when he entered a retail store on Trunk Road, near the Duncan Mall, and demanded money from the till.

The suspect then tried to force his way into a home on Rockridge Road, where he reportedly assaulted a man inside of the home. The man inside the home was known to him, according to RCMP.

He then returned to a parking lot at the Duncan Mall where multiple witnesses reported he drove a black Ford F-150 in an unsafe manner at high speed, even travelling up on a sidewalk and putting pedestrians and other drivers in danger.

Police responded to the parking lot and arrested the man before anyone was injured.

Ryan William McDonald, 40, has been charged with assault, forcible entry, unlawfully being in a dwelling house, dangerous operation of a motor vehicle and mischief under $5,000.

He made his first court appearance Wednesday afternoon.

RCMP are now asking anyone who witnessed Tuesday’s events or who has further information to contact them at 250-748-5522 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
