Mounties in Nanaimo are asking for the public’s help in identifying a man who stole two bottles of alcohol during a break and enter early Monday morning.

Police say a man broke into the Cassidy Country Kitchen along the Trans-Canada Highway just before 4 a.m.

In a surveillance video, the thief is seen throwing a rock at the door three times until he smashes the glass.

According to officials, the man left two minutes later with two large bottles of “hard liquor and some mix.”

He was last seen running northbound along the merge lane on the TCH.

This was the second break-in at the restaurant in the past several months and investigators believe the same man was involved in both crimes.

“This suspect has a distinct gait which should be helpful in identifying him,” said Const. Gary O’Brien.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Nanaimo RCMP at 250-754-2345 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
